I am currently thinking the 24 Core GPU M1 Max with 64 GB RAM is a good call. Unified memory architecture means that the GPU and CPU are both sharing the same memory, so your 16GB is going to be split between the CPU and the GPU AND the neural engine. Thanks for posting the video, definitely made me rethink the 32 GPU Max. Nvidia says RTX Studio laptops are 7 times faster than MacBook Pro. I also think anybody choosing 16GB over 32GB of ram is making a huge mistake for future-proofing. Unified memory architecture means that the GPU and CPU are both sharing the same memory, so your 16GB is going to be split between the CPU and the GPU AND the neural engine. Sadly no benchmarks have come out for the 24GPU Core version in terms of battery life. The difference between battery life between 16GPU core vs 32GPU core is also pretty big. The difference between thermals and battery life between 16" and 14" is pretty big. We also haven't really had any benchmarks that would tell us if the extra memory bandwidth would make a difference for audio applications. It might not matter much for audio production but I'd like my machine to be future proof and having an upgraded GPU might be better if you're driving multiple displays. So I'm really thinking the 16" M1MAX 24 GPU core is the sweet spot, ONLY if battery life is slightly better than the 32GPU Core version.
